Boise State Virginia Tech (Update)

Boise State strikes early off Virginia Tech turnovers

Two big plays in the game's opening minutes helped No. 3 Boise State take a 10-0 lead over No. 10 Virginia Tech on Monday. The Broncos tacked on another touchdown late in the first quarter to go up 17-0.
QB Tyrod Taylor rallied the Hokies in the second quarter for its first score.

Both early plays were turnovers by the Hokies -- a fumble on their first offensive play, four seconds into the game; and a blocked punt on their second possession.

Boise State capitalized with a 44-year Kyle Brotzman field goal at 12:44 and a seven-yard Kellen Moore touchdown to Austin Pettis at 9:48.

Another set up of mistakes resulted in the Broncos' second TD. Forced to punt, the Broncos got the ball back when a Hokies player ran into the punter. The same player them committed a personal foul downfield. The drive ended with a two-yard Moore touchdown pass to Tommy Gallarda with 71 seconds left in the quarter.

Down 17-0 to start the second quarter, Virginia Tech finally found some spark on offense.
The Broncos and Hokies are playing in Landover, Md.

Taylor hit wideout Jarrett Boykin for 34 yards, and two plays later Ryan Williams scored to make it 17-7.
